Report
of Lester Blalock, M.D., to the Registrar of Sentinels, State of
This
is to inform you that Detective-Lieutenant Steven James Ellison of the Cascade
Police Department should be upgraded from Demi-Sentinel* to Full Sentinel.
Det.
Ellison is presently listed as having enhanced sight, hearing, taste, and
smell; all of these senses are enhanced now to an even greater degree than
before (see Attachment A, former and present test results for sight, hearing,
taste & smell). Furthermore,
Ellison's sense of touch is now enhanced (see Attachment B, test results for
touch.) Patient reports that he first
noticed the increased sensitivity the day of his grandfather's funeral.
I
have given Ellison preliminary instructions on how to deal with enhanced touch,
and he has undertaken to make the necessary lifestyle adjustments§.
This is anticipated to be less difficult than for most Adult Emergents,
as he has been dealing with enhanced senses most of his life, and has several
registered Sentinels and Demi-Sentinels in his family, including one aunt, the
late Detective-Lieutenant Grace Margaret Ellison.
It
will not be necessary for Ellison to seek a Guide from among the identified
potential Guides in the Registry's files, as he has already selected one, whose
consent has been obtained. Please note
that Blaire Judith Sandburg, M.D., a forensic pathologist with the Cascade
Police Department is Detective Ellison's Guide; although Dr. Sandburg was not
previously identified as a potential Guide, tests confirm that she is indeed a
Guide (see Attachment C, Guide tests for Dr. Sandburg). Note that Dr. Sandburg is the granddaughter
of Det. Ellison's partner, the late Dr. Blair Jacob Sandburg; they have known
one another from childhood, and when his sense of touch came on line he called
Dr. Sandburg first, who referred him to me.
Although a Demi-Sentinel does not usually need
a Guide, it may be that a light bond had already been set between the two.
Dr.
Sandburg has indicated that she will contact the Office of the Registrar of
Guides to discuss any necessary training.
The
Cascade Police haven't had a full Sentinel since the death of Det. Ellison's
Aunt Grace; his emergence will be cause for great excitement on the Force.

Det.
Ellison's choosing of Dr. Sandburg as his Guide has reminded me of the
persistent rumors concerning their respective grandfathers. Legal concerns have prevented anyone from
thoroughly investigating those rumors.
The old men's deaths have removed those concerns, and it is time someone
found out the truth. Why not me?
Reminder
